Year 4 collaboration with the ChristChurch Cathedral Reinstatement Project.

Mrs Jude Gray —

This week in Art, the Year 4 classes have been designing Rose Windows.

Anne-Marie Mora from the ChristChurch Cathedral Reinstatement project, has been working with the Year 4 students in their Art classes this week to help them design and create their own unique versions of the Rose Window from the ChristChurch Cathedral. She was able to show the children two pieces from the original window and share a slideshow giving them some historical background to it. The students then created their designs using cellophane and tissue paper. One of the aims of the activity is to engage the young people of Christchurch, who don't remember the original building, with the Cathedral. The reinstatement project will take from 7 to 10 years.
