Craighead Diocesan School Exchange

Ms Brigit McCormack —

In Week 3, the Y7/8 girls drove down to Timaru for an exchange with Craighead Diocesan School.

On arrival,   we were lucky to have a tasty morning tea provided for us in the cafeteria.

After our feast the netballers got ready for their games. The ‘A’ team lost 32-24 and the ‘B’ team lost 13-0. Both games were very competitive and we all played well. It was nice to play inside in their new gymnasium. When we finished netball,  the hockey players left on the bus to Aoraki Turf where  Grammar won 6-1. While they were playing hockey, we played touch and football in mixed teams.

Once all of the sports were finished, we met our billets in the auditorium and then went home for the evening.

The next morning some of us had to get the bus to school. We started the day just like Grammar,  with a  Chapel service. After Chapel we went to the auditorium for some entertainment while the debaters got ready. The two topics up for debate were, Does the Easter Bunny have a harder job than Santa and Should 10% of teachers salaries be based on students feedback and results. Grammar won the Easter Bunny debate and lost the Teachers debate.

Once the debates were finished, some of us got ready for Basketball.  It was  a very tense game and we won 16-14.  After our celebration, we got ready for the general knowledge quiz. We were in mixed teams of 4 for this.  At the end,  there were 3 teams tying 1st place so we had to do 3 more questions to find the winner. Sana was the Grammar girl in the winning team and Hannah was in the team that came 2nd place.

It was then time to say goodbye to our new friends before getting on the bus to go home.

Overall, we had an amazing experience and wish we could do this again. If only the bus trip wasn't so long!
