Y4 Girls Create a Collaborative Masterpiece
There has been high excitement in the Year 4 Girls' Art lessons over the last few weeks as they have worked towards completing their collaborative sculpture.
The Y4 girls have been exploring the work of glass sculptural artist Dale Chihuly in their specialist art class. Dale Chihuly is famous for creating truly stunning pieces of colourful glass and large installations displayed inside or outside.
After looking at images and videos of the techniques involved in his incredible artworks they decided to create their own work. Their collaborative piece was inspired by the chandelier and tower work of Chihuly and is made from recycled plastic drink bottles which they painted using warm or cool colours and added patterns and decorative effects.
Following this they varnished and then cut them into spirals, which was quite challenging, and created some really interesting shapes! The finished tower is displayed in the office foyer. They girls have also completed some individual sculptures which are on display outside 4G.
