From the Chaplain

Mrs Teresa Kundycki-Carrell —

Kia ora Koutou

In our RE lessons some classes have been learning about the Nicene Creed and what it means for us to believe in a Trinitarian God (your child should be able to explain this to you). We have had some great discussions so this is taking a few sessions.

Three classes are looking at the images of God portrayed in the Old Testament, mainly the Psalms.  (Check out 5G's illustrations of images of God.)

Our Chapel services continue to have the Virtue of the Week as a focus. Several classes have been involved in presenting their ideas on how we can show these virtues in our daily life. It would be lovely to have more family members join us for these services, 8.40am daily except Tuesday.

  • The Virtue for Week 8 is Mercy - Aroha.
  • The Virtue for Week 9 is Moderation - Whakatikatika.
  • The Virtue for Week 10 is Modesty - Taau.

Our Cathedral Service for Term 3 is on Sunday 9 September at 4.30pm. This has traditionally been a baptism service. If you would like your child/children baptised, please be in touch with me soon so that we can go through a course of preparation. If you would like to find out more about what baptism involves, without any obligation, please contact me.

I finish with this quote:

"A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just."
