Ms Lyndell Turner — Mar 13, 2020

From our wee hiding spot in the hedge or up on our climbing equipment, our children love watching the daily happenings at "Big School". So on Friday, one of our highlights was connecting with the whole school for the Watoto Choir show and the 25th birthday celebrations of the Girls' School. A toe tapping treat with a cup cake to top it off! Thank you for the invite.

The mouse took a stroll through the deep dark woods..... The Gruffalo is one of our favourite stories at the moment. It all stemmed from an open door in our ceiling space. The tamariki have let their imagination spark their creativity. Gruffalo traps have been made, art inspired efforts and even some real 'gruffalo crumble'. If you take a look at their representations of this mysterious creature you can see the orange eyes, poisonous wart and prickles! It is amazing to see just how observant children are and how they really can represent their funds of knowledge in such tangible ways.

Children have been setting their own learning goals recently. Kaiako like to capture this self directed learning as a way to acknowledge children's growing confidence in themselves as capable and confident learners. The Ninja goal might just stretch our intentional teaching skills ever so slightly! There is a real sense of joy and engagement buzzing over Pre-School at the moment.

Please remember to pack a sunhat until the end of the term, as per policy. With a cooler end to term a jacket or warmer layers are also ideal.
