Mufti Day on Friday

There is no theme for this term’s mufti-day but there is still a cost! A gold coin donation, please, towards the BOSS charities.

Please note…

  • It is still cold! Please ensure that your child is dressed sufficiently warmly to be able to play outside at break and lunchtime
  • No pyjamas; no jandals or other types of open-toed shoes.
  • As is the case every day, every pupil requires a full tracksuit or fleece/trackpants in school in the event of an emergency evacuation outside.
  • 5G, 6G, 6B & 8B require PE uniform and sports’ shoes for their PE lessons.

Cathedral Service on Sunday, 4.30 – 5.30pm

Our service at the Cathedral is compulsory for all Y1-8 pupils. Non-chorister pupils will sit with their classes and home room teachers.

The pupils’ reporting times are:

  • 3.45pm: Cathedral & Chapel Choristers
  • 4.00pm: Sacristans & Junior School Choir
  • 4.15pm: Remainder of School

If you arrive before the service finishes at 5.30pm, please wait outside, as numerous people opening and closing the door is highly disruptive to the service.

Pupils must be collected from the Cathedral foyer. No pupil will be permitted to walk unaccompanied from the Cathedral to a waiting car. Parking is available in the streets around the Cathedral.

Please note that food may not be eaten in the Cathedral during the service.

Y6 Rehearsal for Christchurch Music Festival, 12 September

All Y6 pupils will be attending an area rehearsal for the 2017 Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival on Tuesday 12 September, 12.00-3.00pm. Pupils will bus to and from Avonhead School after an early lunch at school. Tuck Shop will not be available. Mrs Currie, Mr Brooke and Mr Bertie will accompany Y6.

If it is more convenient for you to collect your child directly from Avonhead School at the end of the rehearsal, please advise Mr Brooke or Mr Bertie. You must be at Avonhead at 2.50pm to meet the group – the bus will depart at 3.00pm and any child not collected will return to school regardless of previous arrangements.

All Y6 parents should by now have received a letter containing details of our festival performance at 7.00pm on Wednesday 25 October (Week II next term) and information on how to book tickets.

Pupil permission slips were due back to Mrs Currie yesterday. Please complete any overdue forms as soon as possible this week.

WAMM, 15 September

A note for the diary: on Friday 15 September, the Y7&8 pupils perform in WAMM – a concert of Words, Art, Music & Movement at the Cathedral, 7.00-8.30pm. This concert includes the Y7 Wearable Art runway. Parents, family and friends of the Y7&8 pupils are warmly invited to watch the children perform. Pupils and parents from other year-groups are most welcome to attend, too.

For those parents, grandparents and friends who are unable to attend the evening WAMM concert but wish to see the Y7 Wearable Arts, you are warmly welcome to join the WOW show on Thursday 14 September, 11.00am, in the hall. Please park on the Cobbles (outside the library), not in Chester Street.
