Grammar Sport
Mr Louis Bertie - July 3, 2018
We are now halfway through our winter season and it is a great time to take a breath and celebrate all that has been happening in sport at Grammar.
Friday Weekly Winter Sport
For the first time ever Grammar has entered Primary Sports Canterbury, Friday Winter Weekly Sport. Competition has been fierce with only the Y7&8 Hockey A team remaining unbeaten. Our four hockey, three football, four netball and twelve table tennis teams have been wonderful ambassadors for our school. Thank you to all the parents who have been along and supported our teams. We look forward to getting as many teams as possible into the finals next term.
Canterbury Cross Country
Last week the Canterbury Primary School Cross Country was held at Halswell Quarry. The day was fine, the track wet, and in places extremely muddy. Our runners all competed superbly. Congratulations to Una who placed first for Y8 Girls (AWD), Nicole, second Y8 Girls and Lucy, second Y7 Girls. Further congratulations to Jasmine Y6, who has been selected to represent Canterbury at the Inter-Regional Cross Country in Nelson. Good luck James, Ella, Lucy and Nicole who will compete tomorrow at Roto Kohatu Reserve against the winners of the Y7&8 intermediate races for their chance to be selected as part of the Canterbury Cross-country Squad.
Waterpolo
Finalist! This Friday evening our Y7&8 Waterpolo team will be in the pool with Merrin School vying for first place. The team has scored an amazing 75 goals and only conceded 25. They have been enthusiastically cheered on by a very vocal group of dedicated parents. Special thanks to Moe and Isaac of Christ's College who have given up their mornings and Friday evenings to coach and mentor our team.
Finally, thank you to all our players, coaches, supporters and our amazing Director of Sport, Ella, for your time and efforts this term. Roll on Term 3.
