Pet Week 2018

Pet Week 2018 was another fantastic week with a variety of exciting visitors, trips away and Pet Day itself.

We had Jo McGregor from Therapy Dogs visit us and share with us the types of jobs her dogs do and how she trains them. We also got to cuddle her 3 month old puppy, Lilo and golden retriever,  Moleson.

On the Monday,  we visited Willowbank and Ko Tāne. The children experienced being greeted onto a Māori Marae and watched a show of haka, poi and waiata. We all learned a poi dance, haka and a stick game song. After our picnic lunch at the farmyard, we walked around with our parent helpers to see the animals. What an exciting but exhausting day!

This all led up to the grand finale of Pet Week - PET DAY! The children arrived armed with paper plate animals, teacups, oasis, bags of flowers as well as animals of all kind. We started a beautiful outdoor chapel service with Mrs. Kundycki-Carrell and Reverend Toby. The creativity began shortly after with sand-saucers and teacup fun. The children were very artistic with their displays and the Junior Hall was a flurry of colour and perfume. The Dean arrived at lunchtime to bless our animals both living and non-living,  and then the Friends’ Association kindly cooked sausages for us all. The Dog Show was an exciting display of dogs of all kinds - tiny, enormous, obedient, agile, well groomed and best dressed. Thank you to everyone for all the help you provided - we appreciate your support.

The next four weeks are particularly busy as we build towards the end of the year. Please note there is no Junior School assembly this Friday 23 November,  but we will have our Itinerant Musical performers’ assembly next Friday 30 November at 2.15pm.
