Mr Scott Thelning —

Kia ora ki te whanau o te Cathedral Grammar School

The time is nearly here. Excitement levels are on the up and the finishing touches are being applied. Circus Circus and Madagascar are on next week! We seemed to have got to this point very quickly, but I know the expert team making it all happen will have your children set and ready to go for another Cathedral Grammar extravaganza!

It has been wonderful to see and hear all things performance and musical across the school during this term, and to also see some students push themselves into something new and uncomfortable, whilst others immerse themselves in their 'happy place'. Collectively,  they are producing something great that will last in their memories for a long time. I hope you have tickets for yourselves, family and friends!

Do you follow us on Facebook? If you are a Facebook user and you don't - please do so! We have improved the frequency and quality of our posts and will be using this forum to celebrate, share and inform. Through these improvements, we have increased the number of followers, including people not currently associated with our school, and we have stretched our 'reach' from approximately 200 per month to 3000 per week. This is supported by you sharing our posts - so thank you to those who do. Please keep doing it! This is an easy way to support our school, help enhance our culture and spread all the Cathedral Grammar goodness. Thank you!

I have been busy over the past 4-6 weeks meeting with prospective families and enrolling new students. We have just had a positive Open Day morning,  and I have another five families booked in for the remainder of this week. These families are very much aligning to our targeted approach of nurturing, knowing and growing our students, our 'heart as well as head' philosophy and general focus on the well-being of our students as a whole person. This is balanced together with our sense of tradition, strong Christian values and small, focused classes. Many of these families are choosing to visit our school based on positive word of mouth. Thank you to all who are contributing to this. As they say, it takes a village to grow a child. We very much appreciate your support and sense of community. Thank you.

Congratulations to our Robocup team for placing 2nd at the regional champs and qualifying for the national champs! This is outstanding! Please see further details within this edition of Grammar Notes.

Also, a big hive five to our three skiing super stars for gaining 1st place in large fields for the Canterbury Primary and Intermediate Ski Races at Mt Cheeseman.  Fantastic! Please see further details about this too!
