Girls' & Boys' Prep School

Mr Simon Lean-Massey & Ms Brigit McCormack —

Term II is off to a smashing start!

Welcome back to the new term.

We hope that you enjoyed some family time together over the break. It is wonderful to see the children refreshed and enthusiastic for the new term. They all look very smart in their winter uniforms.

We are delighted to welcome two new students to the Boys’ Prep School: Connor in 4B ,  and Hayden in 8B. We hope they have enjoyed their first week at Cathedral Grammar; we are thrilled to have you join us.

It has been a very busy start to the term. This edition of Grammar Notes will provide evidence of the many and varied opportunities that the students of the Prep School have experienced. There is no let up for the rest of the week with field trips for our Year 5’s to the Christchurch City Council Recycling Centre and the 7G trip to the Museum to participate in the Lives Lost, Lives Changed educational programme.

Our Y7&8 students have launched into physics with a bang! We are testing demonstrations of Newton's Laws of Motion with some hands-on death-defying (well, at least gravity defying) feats. See our photos and videos below!

Winter sports preparations are now well underway. The Primary Sport Winter Tournament for Y5-8 commences next Friday 18 May. All teams have now been announced, and the teachers have been impressed by the enthusiasm and energy that students have been bringing to practice. Teachers in charge of each code, will be in touch to finalise practice days and information regarding uniform and gear. If you are notifying the school about a Friday absence, please include in your message, information regarding whether your child is likely or not to be able to play their match.
