Grammar Success at Independent Zones Winter Tournament!
On Friday Cathedral Grammar had 10 teams competing in the Independent Zones Winter Tournament - what a great day for it! All teams put in their best effort and we had some excellent results which show just how competitive we are in the Independent sport sector.
Congratulations to the following teams on their results:

Y7/8 Maroon Hockey: 2nd Place
Y7/8 Maroon Football: 2nd Place
Y6 Maroon Netball: 2nd Place
Y7/8 White Football: 3rd Place
Y5/6 Maroon Football: 3rd Place
Well done to all students who participated, it was fantastic to see you competing with such determination and enjoyment!
Here is a run-down of the Year 7/8 Maroon Hockey Team's tournament from Mrs Tracey Jones:
We were unbeaten going into the final pool game. Unfortunately, we lost to Selwyn House 1-0, however made it through to play-offs. We scored 21 goals during pool play and only conceded 2!There was a worried team going into the semi-finals against STAC (Navy) but 2 early goals from Victoria and Nicole made it a difficult uphill struggle for STAC as the team continued to pass the ball around with confidence and accuracy. STAC came back but we managed to hold them out to reach the final, against Selwyn House!Again, we scored early through Finn, but energy levels were low and we just couldn't hold on to the lead, leaving the goal exposed for Selwyn House to score twice. Overall, great team work and connections made early on considering some it was first time playing together!!! Well done everyone.
Goals from Lucy Vance (8), Finn McCormack-Young (7), Nicole Vance (4), Yong Sun (3), Andrew Welsh (1), Victoria de Costobadie (1)
