Mrs Teresa Kundycki-Carrell —

Introducing our Chaplain Intern - Reverend Toby

Hi Everyone

My name is Toby Behan,  and it’s a real pleasure to be at Cathedral Grammar for the next six months. I’m here for a chaplaincy internship, which means I have the opportunity to be mentored by our school chaplain, Teresa Kundycki-Carrell.

Ours is a family of four: my wife Prue and I have two children - Twyla (16) and Toby (13). We have just returned from three years in Auckland, where I completed a Bachelor of Theology degree , as well as a Diploma in Anglican Studies whilst studying at the College of St. John’s the Evangelist. I’m a keen tramper, I love playing netball (mixed social team), chess and golf, but I’m also more than happy to read books for most of the day.

It’s fantastic to be back home in Christchurch,  and it’s a genuine privilege to have the chance to spend a few months at Cathedral Grammar School. I could list any number of reasons why this is so: a warm welcome from staff and students, friendly faces who are always willing to help a new person find their way around, focused and effective classes,  as well as courtesy and manners in abundance!

If you see me around school, please do come and say hi - I’d be delighted to meet you.

The virtue for Week 6 is Prayerfulness - Inoi. This week's quote is from 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-17: Be joyful always, pray at all times. In RE classes we have been talking about prayer and writing prayers for Chapel services.

The virtue for Week 7 is Purposefulness - Whainga. The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Showing the virtues in our daily life and interactions with others is one way we show our Christian Anglican Character.
