From the Board - October 2018

Mr David Beck —

The Board met on Monday 29 October.

The following is a summary of items discussed/resolved:

  • Ms Nicola Church and Mr Louis Bertie gave a detailed presentation on work linked to the ongoing development of the School curriculum, including reviewing approaches to student assessment. The Board thanked the Curriculum Committee for their work and looks forward to seeing further progress
  • The series of community engagement sessions continue this term, focusing on the curriculum, well-being and the Bring your own Device policy
  • A report was received from the Principal, including updates on the roll, the building programme and marketing initiatives – keep an eye out for our new web-site soon to go live
  • Reports were presented on Finance, Staffing and Health & Safety

The Board met again last Saturday for a Strategic Planning Workshop, including time with Chapter and the Senior staff. This was facilitated by Mr Al Fone, who has worked professionally with over 160 Boards, many of them in schools. It was a worthwhile and beneficial occasion with wide-ranging debate, and some useful work tweaking the School’s Strategic Plan.

The Board will meet again in November as the School enters the final few weeks of the academic year.
