The whirlwind of Term IV is well underway!
Tena koutou ki te whanau o Cathedral Grammar
Three weeks to go until the end of the school year for Cathedral Grammar, and if last week and this week are anything to go by, it is going to be an action-packed and fun fly through to the finish!
Last week our Y6-8 pupils participated in our DoubleTime Conference. This is the third year Ms Church has organised this wonderful event which encourages the pupils to imagine and engage with what life may be like when they are double their age, hence DoubleTime. The three days were filled with amazing guest speakers, wonderful workshops and fantastic collaborative work from the pupils. Thank you to the parents who were able to take up the invitation to attend. It was great to have you involved and to be able to encourage you to continue the conversations at home. Thank you also for the very positive feedback we have received from a number of you; we appreciate it.
There is currently a significant amount of Outdoor Education happening at the moment! Our Y4s experienced their first overnight school camp last week and from the looks on their faces on their return, the great photos and the stories I have heard, they all had a wonderful time on Quail Island and camping out at Halkett. Our Y5s are currently enjoying their three-day camp at Wainui.
Our Y7s are fully immersed in their Leadership Challenges week. Last Friday they participated in the Amazing Race where they had to find their way back to school (with adult supervision) from Chruch Bay while completing challenges along the way. Yesterday they had Beach Education at Waimairi ; today and tomorrow they are sail training and competing in orienteering, and they finish the week off with raft building at The Groynes.
Our Y6s today had a superb day learning to surf out at Sumner, and the Y8s went dinghy sailing today with the boys having had fun day at Jellie Park yesterday and the girls surfing next week. Thursday sees the annual fun and hilarity that is the Top Teams' Challenge set up by Canterbury Sport for the Prep Schools.
Amongst all of this is a sport exchange with STAC, Canterbury Triathlon Champs, Canterbury Athletic Champs, Junior School Nativity, musical presentations and so on and so on! All great fun and it is wonderful to see the pupils embracing these opportunities so positively and collaboratively. Smiling faces everywhere - a really positive end to the year.
