The ChristChurch Cathedral Choir Tour Committee 2018

The Christchurch Cathedral Choir Tour Committee —

After a year of fundraising, our chorister children and families are only three months away from departing on their tour to Australia and Japan. Excitement is building!

The purpose of the tour is to promote the ChristChurch Cathedral Choir and provide the choristers with the experience of singing in a variety of international settings and venues, as well as experiencing other cultures. The tour involves fourteen of our Cathedral Grammar students from years 5-8.

Our Choristers
Did you know that each chorister spends sixteen hours every week training and singing, on top of their educational, sporting and other musical commitments.

If your child would like to audition to be chorister, auditions are held annually. For further information, please contact Mrs Catherine Dark or Mrs Sarah Lowe.

Here is what is happening on tour...

Tour Outline

SYDNEY
Tuesday 25 September — Monday 1 October
Included within this week the choristers will visit St. Andrews Cathedral Choir School, St. Andrews Cathedral (including participating in the Sunday 10.00am Service), St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral and Christ Church St. Lawrence Church.

Choristers will be given the opportunity to visit the Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo and a variety of other iconic venues within Sydney and its environs.

JAPAN
Monday 1 October — Wednesday 10 October
During the ten days in Japan, choristers aim to sing in the Tokyo Anglican Diocese Church and preparations are underway to sing with the Tokyo FM Boys Choir. They will travel to Kyoto and hopefully sing at St Agnes Church. We have been invited to participate in various celebrations, including a formal dinner of the 45 Year Anniversary of the sister city relationship between Christchurch and Kurashiki in Japan. Choristers will also get to visit Hiroshima and learn of its importance in our history.
