Plate up for a Purpose

Thank you so very much for the truly wonderful support given to me as I embarked on this fundraiser for the Christchurch City Mission's Back to School Programme.Through 62 donors I have currently raised just over $12 000, $2000 above my personal goal, as a part of the $140 000 raised so far.

A key feature of our Anglican character is our focus on service, giving, and the needs of others, and it is great that our school community got in behind such a worthy cause to support disadvantaged students having what they need to access education. Whether through directly donating or participating in sausage sizzles and a mufti day, I, and the Christchurch City Mission, very much appreciate you helping turning this into a reality.

If you had intended to donate and would still like to, the Givealittle page is open until March 7.

The actual event was on Saturday night and was great fun. The 200 guests had to vote for their favourite dishes over three categories and the team I was in, the dessert team, won! I have attached some photos for you to have a look at what we produced. The plate with the main dessert is empty on one side, because we left space for guests to scoop some of the Bombe Alaska onto their plate - that had delicious Ben and Jerry's ice cream on the inside, together with some Whittaker's chocolates on the side. Some people have asked me for the recipe. I will post this when I get it.

Congratulations and well done also to Caroline Harvie-Teare who is a parent at school and was a part of the mains team. Thanks Caroline for supporting my fundraising total through the sausage sizzles and mufti day! The main was very good - well done.

COVID-19

You will have received my emails regarding reverting back to Alert Level 2. Thank you for your compliance with our requests and keeping our site as clear as possible.

As a reminder, this means:

  • School will largely continue as normal for your children
  • Parents are not to come on to our site and will need to drop off and pick up students from the gates (except Pre-School families)
  • Should there be a specific and agreed need for you to take your child to class, you will need to contact trace using the QR codes on the school gates
  • Using the drop off area (Kiss 'n Ride) by the Girls' School is approved
  • Anyone with any symptoms, including muscle aches, loss of sense of smell, fever or fatigue, needs to stay away and seek medical advice
  • Hand sanitiser and healthy hygiene habits will remain in place
  • Cleaning regimes increase during the day
  • Morning tea and heating of food will not be provided in the Pre-School
  • Please use the tracer app. We have QR codes around the school boundary
  • If you have visited a place of interest in South Auckland (check Ministry of Health website) you need to self isolate and wait for a negative COVID swab result

Back to School BBQ

Thank you for the outstanding attendance at this fun annual community event. I'm sure you will all agree that it was very enjoyable, a great way for your children to have fun together and you to catch up with old and new friendships and connections. I felt there was a fantastic buzz throughout the whole evening.

Thank you very much to the Friends' Association for making it happen and keeping it as a key point in our calendar. Your work in behind the scenes to put these events together is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you also to all of the Chorister families for the truly amazing food on the night! The variety and quality was wonderful and also appreciated by all so very much. Great work!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Please continue to keep an eye on the school calendar for key dates. You will note that Parent Teacher Conferences are on 16 -18 March and information regarding booking these will be emailed out this Friday.

Have a great fortnight.
