Mrs Simone Whalley —

New blue blocks add excitement and creativity to break times.

Last week, two large containers of blue blocks arrived, the generous gift of the Friends' Association. It is very impressive watching the children during break times, explore and discover how to design and create large structures that they can crawl into and climb over. Below are some photos showing some of their creations.

Next week is Maori Language Week.  We have organized for the children to work alongside the Y8 girls to make sets of poi during  one of our morning assembly times.  They will then learn to sing and dance with the poi at Kapa Haka (every second Thursday morning).  If you have any spare white supermarket bags and black, red or white wool that we could use, please bring these along to your child's class teacher. We will also be running a fun Maori language quiz with the children to promote the importance of learning our indigenous language.

Our current topic is Kitchen Chemistry. The children have been learning about the process of carrying out experiments. We have also been having wonderful discussions about the science behind why different reactions occur. Below are some photos showing different experiments in classrooms.
