The Cathedral Grammar School Concert Series

Mrs Sarah Lowe —

Don't forget to collect your tickets for our first ever CGS Concert Series at The Piano (Centre for Music and the Performing Arts - http://www.thepiano.nz/).

We are hosting two events and tickets are on sale at the school office for only $15.00 per head, and well worth every cent! Your child does not need to be involved for you to come and support our concerts. We would love you to come along as a family to celebrate some of Grammar’s artistic community. Having a decent audience really helps the performers morale! All profits from these concerts go towards developing our Music Department.

So, what is the Concert Series and where are we aiming to head with it?

This concert series is starting with two events. The vision is to have four… but a test drive is always important!

Concert One - Tuesday 26 June, 7.00pm:

  • A Celebration of Dance, Movement and Drama. This includes: gymnastics, ballet, highland, martial arts, and all of our current speech and drama students performing sketches, poems and more. Refreshments will be available at the bar.

Concert Two - Tuesday 3 July, 6.15pm:

  • A Celebration of High-Performing Musicians. This includes fourteen of our top Prep School musicians, and six of our top Junior School musicians coming out on stage to show us the best they have to offer. In addition, the judge from our school music competitions can choose up to eight extra performers (called ‘wild cards’) who may not be as highly graded, but who shine in our school setting. This evening is a black tie/ high fashion affair so performers and audience members, including children, should dress up to the nines and really enjoy the atmosphere! We will have wine and cheese platters available to buy from the bar from 6.15pm, with the performance beginning at 7.00pm.

Tickets for both concerts are available NOW at the front office.

Please support us and enjoy a night (or two nights!!) at The Piano with family and friends.
