Pre-School

Ms Libby Avery —

Spring is nearly here!

The Pre-School is desperately trying to pretend that spring is on its way. Jack Parfitt even turned up proudly in his rugby shorts on a chilly 6ºC day. The children have been looking out for spring flowers in the Pre-School garden and around the school, and yesterday worked collaboratively to make a wonderful spring art installation for Mr Thelning’s office. Emma Zhang was very proud to present it to him.

It is hard to believe we are halfway through Term III already and that there are only four weeks of the school term to go. Our Pre-School runs throughout the school year so from 25 September – 13 October the holiday programme will be running. Many thanks to those families who have informed us of their attendance or absence during this time. We have planned trips to Mega Air, Orton Bradley Park, gymnastics and the Botanical Gardens, in addition to wonderful activities arranged within the Pre-School, including baking day, art & crafts day and PJ day, to name just a few. If you have not returned your holiday attendance form, please do so as soon as possible.

Unfortunately we still have children attending Pre-School who are under the weather. It is very important that if your child is unwell, they stay home. This is for their own wellbeing, and the health and wellbeing of the other children and teachers at Pre-School.

Those of our children transitioning to Junior School in Term IV are thoroughly enjoying their weekly visits to Mrs Crone and we are looking forward to their graduation ceremony on Friday 22 September at 9.00am. Graduation is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the children's learning journeys in Pre-School so we look forward to seeing many families join in Aerin Wang, Liam Niu, Bella Mauger-Speers and Emma Zhang for their special morning.

Starting next week for five weeks, we welcome Angel Huang, third-year trainee teacher from the University of Canterbury. Teaching students are a wonderful addition to our Pre-School as they bring new ideas to try within our safe environment. I am sure the children and families will make Angel feel very welcome. Mr Aaron was here this time last year as a student. It was fantastic to watch him grow in confidence during that placement – and look at him now!

2018 Pre-School enrolments are now being processed. For current families, if you wish to increase days for Term IV 2017 or Term IV 2018, please speak to Miss Libby. If you have a sibling or a new child you wish to enrol, please advise Miss Libby and collect an enrolment form from Pre-School. We do have several new families enrolling but we want to ensure that our current families are given priority.
