Y6-8 Assessment Week, Next Week

The mid-year assessments for Y6-8 happen next week, 28 May – 1 June. Tests are scheduled within each class’s normal timetable to avoid disruption to non-exam subjects, and the majority of assessments will be taken in the morning. If you need to arrange an external appointment for your child next week, please avoid the mornings if possible, to avoid the need for a test catch-up during lesson time the following week.

Operetta Auditions

The auditions for Madagascar are taking place on the following dates:

  • Boys: Tuesday 29th May 1.30 - 3.30 and after school as needed
  • Girls: Tuesday 5th June 9.00 - 11.00 and after school as needed

A sign up sheet is now up in the music classroom. Students should add their name to the list and they will be given a time for auditioning on Friday.

Please email if you have any questions around this - lowes@cathedralgrammar.school.nz

ICAS - Science

The ICAS Science Competition will take place next Tuesday, 29 May.

Y4&5 Swimming Lessons

Parents of students in Y4&5 will receive a letter from Miss Dowgray with details of the swimming lesson programme to be held Monday to Thursday 11-14 June, (Week 7) and 18-21 June (Week 8).

Please note students with long hair will require a swimming cap.

Y6 Cycle Safe

Shortly Y6 students will receive information about Cycle Safe in Week VIII. Cycle Safe is an excellent programme for schools’ run by the City Council and taken by specialist instructors.

Each student is expected to participate as part of their PE programme, and so requires a bicycle. A bike lock is essential as bikes will be left on the playground during break times, and can be left overnight at school.

If your child cannot yet ride a bike, they will be taught by the Cycle Safe instructors, but there are still three weeks to get ahead of the game.

If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
