Net: Overflowing with hope

Ally Mourits —

NET (National Evangelisation Teams) is a Catholic peer-to-peer youth ministry organisation that sends teams of young people all over Australia and New Zealand to share their testimonies and faith.

The Hamilton Diocese has had a NET Team for the past 5 years and they serve as our primary outreach to our high school students.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

This is the NET theme scripture for 2024 and I speak on behalf of the whole Youth Office when I say that we have experienced the hope that these six extraordinary young people bring to not only our youth, but everyone that they have encountered this year. We are in a season of the Church’s history that demands us to have faith in God and his plan for his people and it is so encouraging to see Jess, Xavier, Tess, Elle, Ruby and Michael witness to the power of the Gospel in their lives and by doing so, build up the next generation of church leaders.

Jess, Xavier, Elle and Tess all hail from Brisbane, Ruby is from Tasmania, and Michael is our resident Kiwi of the group, from Wellington. We have kept them very busy this year visiting four of our Catholic Colleges as well as several youth groups across the diocese. They are based in Cambridge and help run many events in Hamilton, however have travelled far and wide on their mission this year, even as far as Gisborne.

This year’s team is vibrant and passionate - if you have been lucky enough to have a conversation with any of them, you will have very quickly found out that their number one focus this year is Jesus and making His name known!

If you have any questions about the NET Team or their ministry here in the Hamilton Diocese this year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me as the Outreach Coordinator - allym@cdh.org.nz
