The church lost a loyal and faithful servant when Sir Peter Trapski was called home to God on 20 February 2025.

Sir Peter is survived by his wife Lady Helen and daughters Jo, Niki, Michelle, Paula and Rachel. He was a man of faith and very much a family man delighting in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Apart from his civil awards, Sir Peter was made a Knight Commander, with star, in the Pontifical Equestrian Order of Pope Saint Sylvester.

Sir Peter was instrumental in setting up the Family Court in New Zealand, being the first Principal of the Family Court and former Chief District Court Judge.

For the Church, Sir Peter gave of his time, knowledge and skills selflessly. He was Patron and adviser on the establishment committee of Aquinas College in Tauranga, served on many parish councils, diocesan advisory groups and committees.
