Under 15 Kahu Team Joins Forces with Tri Rugby for Inclusive Training Session
The Under 15 Kahu rugby team recently partnered with Tri Rugby from High School Old Boys (HSOB) for a special training session, showcasing the power of sport and the inclusivity of rugby for all, regardless of size, shape, or ability.
Tri Rugby enables individuals with disabilities or vulnerabilities to play alongside each other and experience cohesion and culture through rugby. This initiative, supported by Tri Rugby Canterbury, the Canterbury Rugby Football Union (CRFU), and HSOB RFC, provides valuable opportunities for players in Christchurch.
The training session was led by coaches Pete Chaplin and Trav Dalzell. Their dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment was evident as players from both teams connected, learned, and grew together. The session highlighted the mutual respect and teamwork that rugby promotes.
After the training, everyone came together to enjoy a meal. This shared time reinforced the sense of camaraderie and community, showing how rugby extends beyond the field. Coach Pete Chaplin remarked, “Our boys showing incredible care, understanding and encouragement when training with the Tri crew, they got how special this team is to them and how much they love rugby.”
