Waterpolo
Water polo is a summer sport, played in the 1st and 4th terms.
Water polo at CBHS has the reputation of an exciting and highly enjoyable competitive sport. Strength, skill, endurance and sound dedication play important roles in order for players to reach their full potential.
There are many challenges set by this physically demanding sport that, when met, maintain a high standard of competitiveness. All coaching staff are knowledgeable and approachable and set high standards of ethics.
There are some of our teams which plays in regional and national tournaments and have been very competitive in them over the years.
CBHS teams compete in the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ competition on a Tuesday or Thursday night at Jellie Park. Senior competitions are held in term 1, while the junior (Year 9 & 10) competition is held in Term 4.
The teams practice in the school’s pool and compete around Christchurch. We are very fortunate to have old boys providing coaching and other support to the school teams as well as a dedicated coaching team which includes enthusiastic staff members.
Water polo is a popular sporting option at the school and the teams have been very successful over the years.
