College Match 2025

Nic Hill —

An Event That Builds Culture.

The annual CBHS v Christ’s College Rugby Match is more than just a game—it’s one of those rare moments where tradition, identity, and moral purpose align.

This year’s match, hosted by Christ’s College on Upper as part of their 175th Celebrations will kick off on Tuesday 3 June at 1:00pm.

This is an event that brings together students, staff, families, and Old Boys to celebrate what it means to belong to two schools that take pride in educating boys well.

At CBHS, we aim to grow fine young men for a modern world—men who are morally courageous, who walk confidently in their values. This match gives us a chance to express that purpose publicly and proudly. It creates memories, builds pride, and offers our boys a powerful moment of connection and leadership.

Importantly, the energy of this event can be a force for good in our school culture. When done well, this match becomes more than a game—it becomes a mirror of who we are and what we stand for.

We are proud of how our students have embraced the occasion in recent years—with passion, discipline, and respect.

This year’s match also coincides with Pride Week, and we’re pleased to support Lads Without Labels, a student-led movement promoting positive masculinity, mental health, and inclusion. It’s a great fit for the values we want to celebrate—those of empathy, courage, and standing with others.

Lads without Labels also align with the Old Boys’ Association’s core pillar of supporting Old Boys as they navigate life after School.

To protect the mana of the event and its important purpose a few expectations are in place:

  • The match is alcohol-free – breath testing will take place at entry.

  • No bags will be permitted.

  • All support must be positive and respectful. Comments that are offensive, racist, sexist, or homophobic are never acceptable and won’t be tolerated.

Entry to the match implies agreement with these expectations.

CBHS students who attend the game will do so as part of a School contingent and will travel to the game on buses. To attend CBHS students must complete the electronic form they have been sent and agree to our expectations. The form will generate a ticket for the bus that will be handed out on the day of the game.

The College Match reflects and builds our sense of belonging. We are looking forward to a positive and fun day and wish all players the very best.
