It's All Starting to Happen at Straven Road

Craig Dunnett —

If you have been to school lately or even driven past you will notice that a village has sprung up on the tennis courts.

In conjunction with the Ministry of Education the school has secured eight relocatable classrooms from various schools that have been closed down in Canterbury. These have been moved onsite to accommodate students when buildings are demolished to make way for new ones during the Master Plan development at Christchurch Boys' High School.

The “Village” with classrooms named TK1 – TK8 is currently home to the Commerce Department, whose teachers are thrilled with their bigger, ‘airier’, brighter and warmer classrooms. The old Commerce teaching block is due to be demolished and removed over the weekend with work possibly continuing on Monday and Tuesday nights next week.

The tennis courts will also serve as the new home of the bike stands from September this year while the historic Deans' farm buildings are restored. Click here for more information on this project.
