Otago Boys' Sports Exchange

Matt Parr —

Rotten conditions were the feature of the 2017 Otago Boys' traditional sports exchange. 144 students across nine different codes travelled to Dunedin for one of the longest standing traditional fixtures in the country.

The two South Island powerhouses went head to head in badminton, basketball, debating, football, hockey, rugby, squash, trap shooting and golf. With snow forecast down to 200m, the Antarctic blast had many of the outdoor sports running for the showers once their games were done.

Overall, Otago were too strong, winning the fixture 8-4. A real character building exchange for all involved. Many thanks to Otago Boys’ High School for hosting and to all the billeting families in particular. Thanks also to the 16 staff who went away with their teams to make this fixture possible.
