Old Boys News

Nic Hill —

A number of Old Boys have featured in the news recently and a selection is presented below.

Joseph Taipari is playing Rugby League for the Parramatta Eels U18 side and both Josh McKay and Will Jordan have been selected in the NZ U20 Rugby side. Jamie Prebble has finished second in ski cross at the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships. Tom Latham has been named captain of the New Zealand Cricket team for their tri series in Ireland in May. Andrew Wiffen has won the Tasman Regional Final and is through to the Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final. Hugh De Lacy has won the senior speed shear at the Shearing and Wool Handling World Championships. Cam Hayde was named in the New Zealand Hockey squad to play Pakistan. Jackson and Nathan Watt joined four current school students Reilly Makea, Kane Te Wheoro, Josh Glading and Josh Lubiejewski as members of the Papanui Tigers who won the Canterbury Softball Title. It has been fantastic to see a return to form for mountain biker Anton Cooper who won the Oceania Continental Championship Title.

Chris Parker is bringing his show Hudson and Hall to Christchurch and the school PTA has organised for one of his shows (Tuesday October 10 7:30pm at the Court Theatre) to be a fundraiser. Please save the date as more information will be available closer to the time of how to purchase tickets. Michael Lawrence took his place in a concert called "Musical Mentors" where he played piano to celebrate his own 40 plus year musical journey. Jake Bailey is launching his book "What Cancer Taught Me" on May 12 and there will be opportunities to buy copies of his book, also as a fundraiser for school, through the PTA.
