Examination Information

Jarred Williams —

Senior Practice Exams 5 – 12 September.

It is very important for students to prepare well for their examinations. Not only is revision and exam practice good preparation for the Externals at the end of the year, results can be used as derived grades. If a student is entered into an External and for an approved reason is unable to attend the NZQA examination, students can make application to be assessed using a derived grade. Schools can submit evidence from a quality assured assessment which includes practice examinations. Unforeseen events happen. To use the example from our head boy last year, aside from his many challenges he found he needed to rely on grades derived from his very good practice exams.

It is our expectation that all students attend scheduled assessments. If students do not show up for exams they can expect a call home to ascertain whether there is a valid reason for their absence.

NCEA end of Year Examinations

Please remember that examinations at the end of the year will be held on the University of Canterbury site due to construction at school. Further information on this will be communicated to the boys and parents from next term.
