NZQA Information

NZQA —

Below are some important points from a recent NZQA circular.

Introducing NCEA – Pocket Guide

NZQA has produced a new pocket-sized guide to NCEA for students and whanau.

Further information, including ordering instructions, can be found here.

New Zealand Record of Achievement (NZRoA)

NZQA has refreshed the Record of Achievement (ROA) and it is now known as the New Zealand Record of Achievement (NZRoA).

New features will allow learners to customise, save, and share an electronic version of their record of achievement.

NZRoA is only available through the Learner Login. ROAs will continue to be available to schools through their Provider login.

Find out more about the NZRoA here.

Derived Grade Process for Students Selected for National Representation

Students who have been selected for National Representation in a sport or approved activity can apply for a derived grade for the examination(s) they miss. The application must be approved by NZQA in advance using the National Representation application form.

The following information is required:

  • documentary evidence of national selection
  • the dates of the competition/event
  • a copy of the travel arrangements
  • evidence of actual participation (provided after the event)

Applications should be submitted as soon as possible before 1 November so that students can get an early decision on whether their application meets the eligibility criteria, including the dates. Please note that applications cannot be approved after the event has taken place – pre-approval is required.
