Canterbury Triathlon Championships

Ethan Lankshear —

On a magnificently sunny day on the 8th March, 10 students attended the Canterbury Secondary Schools Triathlon at Sumner.

We had 6 students competing individually across 3 age groups; Tylah Davidson and Ryan Cooke in the U14 boys, Will Taylor, Henry Allott and Will Griffiths in the U16 boys, and Logan Currie in the U19 boys.

Notable results from the individual races include Logan Currie continuing is fine form in his busy Triathlon schedule, finishing 2nd overall and 2nd in his age category, Will Taylor 6th overall and 2nd in his age group, and Henry Allott finishing 5th in his age group.

In an 11th hour entry into the teams race, Logan Currie decided to complete another two thirds of a triathlon when joining Bailey O’Donnell (cycle) to finish 1st out of all the teams and 1st in the U19 age category.

Callum Haughin (swim) and Henry Kircher (cycle) came out of retirement and blew off the proverbial cobwebs to join Nathan Cochrane (run) to compete in the U19 Boys team race, finishing in a commendable 3rd place.

A big thanks to all those who came out and supported the athletes.
