Chippendale Brings up Rare Milestone

Mike Drury —

Year 13 student Ben Chippendale brought up his 40th cap for the 1st XV on Saturday, playing against Rangiora High School.

Ben, who is in his third year in the team has played a number of positions in the backline over those three years, but this year, he has cemented the starting spot in the number 12 jersey.

What has been notable from Ben this year is his contribution as a leader to the group, as well as his very strong defence. That only 80 points have been conceded in 12 games in the UC Championship this year, is a real credit to the hard work and determination that Ben has shown as part of the midfield.

To earn his 40th cap means a lot to Ben and he joins a very select group of players from over the years that have played that number of games for the Christchurch Boys’ High School 1st XV.
