Understanding NCEA Information presentation

Many parents feel frustrated when talking with their son about academic progress at school because they don’t feel as though they know enough about how the NCEA system works? If this sounds like you then you are certainly not alone. NCEA was introduced into schools between 2002-2004. As parents we did not go through this system so it can seem very foreign to us. The staff at CBHS are keen to assist you in gaining a better understanding of how NCEA works and become more involved in your son’s education.

Ara Open Day!

Thursday 14th June 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm City & Woolston Campus, Christchurch

Open Day is a great opportunity for your students to come to Ara with their family or friends. They can find out everything they need to know by attending information sessions, chatting with tutors and exploring the campus.

Year 12 UC Discovery Day

Tuesday 12 April - 9.30am to 2.00pm
Venue: University of Canterbury, Ilam Campus, starting in the Clyde car park

This new event gives Year 12s the chance to experience what it’s like to be a university student. The event is structured just like a real university day, following an individual timetable that your Year 12s select.

Students will:

· take part in taster lectures
· discover the differences between school and university
· learn why university study is valuable
· explore the campus
· find out about student services, including those for Māori and Pasifika
· try a student lunch on a budget

Dunedin Tertiary Open Day 2018

Monday 7th May 2018

The Dunedin tertiary institutions will be holding their annual Tertiary Open Day on Monday 7 May 2018. As we want visiting students and their parents to enjoy the Otago campus at its best, we hold our Open Day during term time. This gives students the opportunity to experience the unique buzz of the Otago campuses in action. Special Open Day presentations, tours, and open homes at all the Residential Colleges will allow students and their families to get a taste of the way tertiary students live and work in Dunedin.

CBHS will be taking a bus of approx. 30 students. Bus departs Sun May 6th returns Mon 7th May. See Mr Webster for more details.
