New Staff 2017

Steve Fraser —

The School is pleased to welcome the following new staff for 2017:

1. Naomi Cooke - Part time Guidance Counsellor

As well as being a trained counsellor Ms Cooke is an educational psychologist. She has worked at Lincoln High School, Heaton Normal Intermediate, and Waimairi Schools and in private practice. Ms Cooke has two sons and is interested in horse riding.

2. Guy Ferguson - Sports Co-ordinator fixed term for Term One.

Guy is a trained Phys Ed teacher and has taught at Aotea College, Ellesmere College, John McGlashan and Marlborough Boys College and also in Hong Kong. He has also worked for both the Hong Kong and Tongan Rugby Football Unions. Guy plays and coaches rugby and attended Wellington College.

3. Mitchell Rodden – Physical Education

After a couple of years relieving at CBHS, Mitch is now full time, teaching Physical Education. He is an Old Boy of CBHS, plays cricket for Lancaster Park and is on the Board there. He coaches cricket and rugby.

4. Juliet Fry – HOD ESOL

Juliet has previously been HOD at Epsom Girls Grammar and Northcote College. She has also taught English, Geography and Social Studies in NZ and has taught overseas in London and Japan. She has trained teachers in Nepal and most recently has been contracted to the Ministry of Education to lead NZ-wide professional development in English language, Pasifika Studies and literacy teaching.

5. Rachel Reiha – Gateway Co-ordinator

Rachel came to us from the same role at Hornby High School and has also worked in the import/ export industry. Ms Reiha has a degree in Psychology.

6. Amanda Multhaup – Food Technology

Amanda will be teaching Food Technology to our senior classes, having previously taught at Riccarton High School and Kirkwood Intermediate. She has spent time as the International Student Manager at Hillmorton High School. Her interests include cycling, yoga, theatre, gardening and sailing and she is a New Zealand Boatmaster.

7. Caroline Lovie – Art

Caroline has been a director in a design company and involved in PR and advertising. She has lectured in design at the Design College and UCOL and has taught art at Cashmere High School and Samuel Marsden Collegiate. Caroline is teaching Photography and Design while Ms Price is on leave.

8. Claire Norton - Biology

Claire will be teaching Biology and Science. Miss Norton has taught at Hagley College, Cathedral College and also previously at CBHS. She has also worked at Rutherford’s Den in the Art Centre and has run a small business and farming enterprise

9. Andrew Kerrison – Technology

Andrew has joined our Technology department. He has taught in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom including stints at Wellington College, where he was the Head of Department, and Darfield High School. Mr Kerrison went to Shirley Boys and joined the navy straight after school. Mr Kerrsion has skills and experience in eLearning. He has been involved in VEX robotics and outdoor education and is an expert sailor having recently completed the 11 month Clipper Round the World ocean race.

10. Rod Tiplady – Physics

Rod will be teaching Science and Physics. Rod has returned to New Zealand after teaching in Baltimore and Edinburgh. He has also taught at Mt Maunganui College and Southland Boys' High School where he was the Head of the Phys Ed Department. He has been a rugby and athletics coach and cadets officer. He is a keen mountain biker, road cyclist, and runner. Rod also skis, and his musical skills include the banjo, violin and guitar.

11. Clémentine Grelier

Clementine has just joined us as our French Assistante for 2017. She is from Nantes in Bretagne and has completed a Masters in English Literature at the Sorbonne in Paris. She is working this year in New Zealand before embarking on a teaching career and includes waterpolo in her interests and skills.
