Sport
Sports exists at CBHS for a deeper purpose.
At Christchurch Boys’ High School, sport is an important part of a boy’s education.
We encourage boys to be involved, and we expect them to contribute to a team or activity during the year. Participation matters. It builds habits, relationships, and a sense of belonging within the school.
The purpose of sport at CBHS is clear. It supports the development of character, courage, and care for others. It strengthens relationships between boys, staff, and the wider community. It also supports boys in their academic work by building discipline, resilience, and routine.
We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities to reflect the different interests and strengths of our boys. All boys have the opportunity to participate, whether at a social or competitive level, and our top teams compete strongly at regional and national levels.
On the field, we value effort, discipline, and respect for others. Boys are expected to represent the school well, to support their teammates, and to compete with integrity. We strive to win, but how boys conduct themselves matters more.
Sport at CBHS is not an end in itself. It is one of the ways we help develop fine young men who can contribute positively to others and to their communities.
The strength of sport at CBHS is made possible by the commitment of staff, coaches, and volunteers who give their time to support our boys. Their involvement builds strong relationships and reinforces the values of the school.
