House Leaders

Devon Harding —

One of the major house events is just around the corner - Athletics Day. To tell you all a little more, House Leader, Devon Harding has put this information together.

Christchurch Boys’ High School has a house system in place for all students that go through the school. Each student is placed in a house which is determined by their first letter of their last name.

HOUSES & COLOURS

Deans (Yellow) A to D
Named after the Deans family farm which CBHS now sits on.

Hadlee (Red) E to K
Named after one of the most famous CBHS sporting families

Pomare (Green) L to R
Named after Sir Maui Wiremu Pita Naera Pomare KBE, CMG the 8th Minister of Health.

Sutton (Blue) S to Z
Named after William Sutton who was a great portraitist and landscape artist.

Throughout the year, house leaders will be holding activities which students can compete against other houses to gain points for their house.

Last week we held a tug of war competition where Hadlee and Pomare won and gained 500 points each for their houses, Deans and Sutton gained 250 points each.

Our main day for the whole school to get amongst the great tradition is Athletics Day. All students dress up in there house colour and parade their house colours throughout the day.

We hope that every student tries new activities and gets involved throughout the year with these great competitions available for everyone to join in.
