Progress in the new Hall

From the Headmaster

Nic Hill —

I have been delighted by the way that the school year has started. The boys are positive around school (they are singing the school song better than in previous years), they are polite and I appreciate the greetings I get from the boys. There is a great sense of anticipation about the building of the Hall. This will provide a wonderful focal point to foster community connection and a sense of belonging.

A wonderful recent CBHS moment was the atmosphere in the grandstand during the 1st XV's match against Paarl High School from South Africa. The boys showed obvious fun and delight in each other’s company.

The recent ANZAC Service was a very special occasion. Thank you to the many community members who attended and congratulations to those students who played a significant role in it, the choir, the wreath party, Senior Monitor Isaac Anderson, Bugler Oliver Carter and Soloist Zach Schurr.

Moments such as these will be the lasting memories of school for our boys and I do love the formal and impromptu moments that this school creates.

There are challenges facing our boys and community and I do address these elsewhere in this newsletter. I do believe though that the community and positivity we have are resiliency factors, and I do love the buy in that the boys are showing to the school.
