Eight boys entered this event and came away with medals on 26 August at Ruapuna

National Squash Tournament - Tauranga 03 August
A team of squash players attended the tournament finishing 4th out of 32 teams.

Ryan Ko our No.1 has been selected in the NZ Junior team to play the Australian State teams competition. Charlie Prince was selected as a non travelling reserve. Our other players were Curtis Millard, Ollie O'Loughlin, Jimmy Stewart, Oscar Cunningham (Captain).

2019 UCI Track Cycling Championships, Germany - Laurence Pithie a Kiwi dual gold medallist turns heads at world junior track cycling championships. With two gold medals draped around his neck and wearing his first-place rainbow jersey, Pithie couldn't wipe the smile from his face as he touched down in Christchurch on Wednesday. Greeted by a stirring haka from his CBHS schoolmates, he was still coming to terms with first place finishes in the omnium (which features four events over one day) and the Madison (two-rider relay event) with Taupo's Kiaan Watts. Logan Currie  has been selected to race in the UCI Junior World Road Championships to be held in Yorkshire, England in September.  Logan will be representing New Zealand in the Under-19 individual time trial and the 150km road race in Yorkshire on September 23 and 27 respectively. Logan has already turned it up a notch with a win in Belgium on the countdown to the World Road Championships.

2019 World Rowing Championships, Tokyo, Japan- Scott Shackleton representing NZ has placed third in the Junior Mens Double Skulls (Heat 3).

Crusader Knights - The following students were named in the 2019 Crusaders Junior Knights Development Camp held in conjunction with NZ Rugby running from 7-10 July.

Ben Lopas, Callum Simpson, Clayden Paranihi, Fabian Holland, Harri Langworthy, Jamie Hannah, Keegan McGregor, Max Hughes, Ollie Lewis. In addition to this a wider group were also selected to be involved in the camp and these students were Josh Taula, Thomas Schmack and Cameron Henderson. The camp provided an opportunity for emerging talent to learn from BNZ Crusaders, provincial union coaches and development staff, and is not limited to rugby training and skills. Educational elements of the camp include personal development, nutrition, mental skills and well-being.

NZ Touch Rugby - Trans-Tasman 2020 Test Series wider training squad named.   Josh Burgess, Ollie Hansen and Jackson De Thierry have been selected for the wider training squad to represent NZ to play in the Trans-Tasman Touch Football Competition to be held in Newcastle in 2020.

Canterbury Secondary Schools Ski/Snowboard Race results - Harry Cookson is ranked 4th in the ski by school and 5th in the overall ski, Ben Kuruvilla 4th in both the snowboard boys and snowboard overall.

NZ Schools' rugby teams announced 

Players from 29 schools across the country have been named in the New Zealand Schools’ and New Zealand Schools’ Barbarians teams for 2019, announced by New Zealand Rugby today.

A huge 1st XV season culminated last weekend with the Finals played in Palmerston North, the city will also play host to the 50 young players selected across the two representative teams.

Congratulations to the following CBHS 1st XV players

Schools' team - Max Hughes, Ollie Lewis, Ben Lopas
Barbarians team - Jamie Hannah

Interesting statistics - this is the first time since 2006 - Ash Dixon, Nasi Manu, Hugh Reed - that three CBHS players have been named in NZ Schools.

Max and Ollie are the two third year players in the 1st XV, Max having finished his time in the 1st XV with an impressive 52 caps.

Max, Ollie and Jamie were all Crusader Knights players in 2019, Ben was unavailable due to injury, but like Max and Ollie was a Crusader Knight in 2018.
