Aspiring Athletes take up the Challenge

Krissteen Smith —

Ever looked at an Iron Man Triathlon event and thought "no way could I do that those guys are crazy!" Well the staff at CBHS thought the opposite and went "yes I'm definitely up for that".

Luckily for us the organisers of the Wanaka Challenge quoted as being "the most scenic Iron Man in the World " have a category where a team can be entered.

So instead of individually competing the 3.8km swim, 180 km bike ride and 42 km marathon (or 2 x 21 km ) you have the opportunity for individuals to complete a section each. Much interest was shown and many hours of dedicated training have taken place over the last 4 months to get the team into shape to compete at the Wanaka Challenge on February 18th and hopefully bring home the silverware.

Many thanks to those who have supported us in our quest. There are 6 staff members competing and there is already some healthy competition building up between our 2 teams as to who crosses the line first. Competing in this iconic event will be a first for some of the staff and all are looking forward to this unique and challenging experience. Both teams will have live tracking and can be followed on the Wanaka Challenge site. There will be a CBHS tent on site where we hope visitors and Old Boys who are in Wanaka can drop in and offer the teams their support and join in the fun. It's great to see these teachers giving up their time to compete for the School so lets hope for fine weather and some great race times.
