The Gateway Programme

The Gateway Programme is for those students interested in gaining hands on practical experience with an employer to support their career pathway from school. There are many options available, some of the common areas are Trades, Barbering, Automotive, Sports & Fitness, Engineering, & Aviation.

The Gateway Programme has limited spaces due to the funding available and we therefore have a selection process as it can be very competitive.

Gateway Programme eligibility criteria

  • Excellent attendance record
  • Good classroom work ethic and behaviour
  • The student has identified a particular career pathway or industry

Acceptance on to the Gateway Programme is at the discretion of CBHS Careers staff.

There are still spaces available for 2023 so please contact Mrs Lambie (lml@cbhs.nz) in the Careers Centre if you are a senior student and interested in applying!

Students Making the Most of Career Central

We are delighted to see senior students using Career Central doing career exploration and research in their own time and then following up with us for advice as needed.

Career Central is an online career assessment and management platform which has been designed to support young people in their future pathways exploration, planning, and decision making. Young people often enjoy completing quizzes about themselves and their interests. Encouraging them to use the Career Central platform to assess their skills, personal qualities, interests, and career values, and to access our online career quizzes is a great way to get them exploring possibilities for the future. Review the results with your son to start opening up a conversation on options.
