Cyclocross, Track Cycling Nationals, South Island Road Cycling Championships, Miles Toyota Premiership and Championship, NZR National Maori U18 Whatukura Camp, NZ U17 Football and NZ Boxing Nationals.

Blue Black celebrates the sporting achievements of all the boys and students. It is great hearing about what the boys and students have been up to and the successes they have had. Sometimes these achievements occur in sports and competitions that Boys' High is not involved in so, please let us know what the boys and students have been up to.

It is important to us to celebrate the successes of all those involved in sport at CBHS.

CBHS Cycling and MTB Wrap

South Island CX Champs 2023 (Cyclocross)

The 2023 Skoda South Island School Cyclocross Championships were held in Christchurch on Sunday 16 July, hosted by Southerncross CX. A small team of MTB participated in the event that took place in Halswell.

Track Cycling Nationals 2023

Oliver Clark represented CBHS at The SKODA National School Track Championships that were held in Cambridge on 4 - 5 July 2023.

  • 4th place in the U16 Boys 3000m Scratch Race
  • 2nd place in the U16 Boys 6 lap Keirin Finals
  • 2nd place in the U16 Boys 4000m Tempo Points

South Island Road Cycling Championships

The 2023 SKODA South Island School Road Championships were held in Christchurch on the 1st and 2nd of July and hosted by the team at Canterbury Schools Cycling.

The event included Individual Time Trial, Road Race and Team Time Trial and took place at Ruapuna Motorsport Park.

Individual Time Trial - 3.7km

  • U15 - Sean Threadgall 5th place
  • U16 - Josh Davies 2nd place , Oliver Clark 3rd place
  • U20 - Matt Davidson 5th place

Teams Time Trial 14km

Road Race

Miles Toyota Premiership and Championship

It is semi-finals time in the Miles Toyota Premiership and Championship rugby competition this Saturday.

After qualifying second in round robin play the 1st XV has home ground advantage against 3rd placed St Thomas of Canterbury College, while in the other semi-final Nelson College host St Bedes in Nelson.

A win on Saturday will see the 1st XV heading to Nelson for the final or hosting St Bedes at home.

The CBHS 2nd XV remained unbeaten in the Miles Toyota Championship and they have earnt a knockout semi final also against St Thomas of Canterbury College, who finished fourth. A victory over STC on Saturday will allow the 2nd XV to host either Rangiora 1st XV or a Mid-Canterbury Combined 1st XV who play each other in the other semi-final.

Unfortunately the ground condition of Straven Road No1 has prevented both games being played at school. Both games are knockout, no second chance fixtures.

NZR National Maori U18 Whatukura Camp

Congratulations to CBHS 1st XV member Marshall Blakely and Lachie Anderson who were selected to attend NZR National Maori U18 Whatukura Camp in Rotorua from 9th – 12th July

New Zealand U17 Football

Congratulations to CBHS 1st XI member Mac Prathumphithak who has been selected in a New Zealand U17 Football squad for games against New Caledonia in early August.

A final squad will be selected for Novembers FIFA U17 World Cup in November.

New Zealand Boxing Nationals

CBHS’ Ed Richards continued his dominance of the New Zealand age-group boxing scene with a win in the 60kg Youth Division at the NZ Boxing Nationals, held in Tauranga over the school holiday period.
