There were five records broken over the course of the day this year, some of the records had stood for over 20 years. Well done to these students, it shows that hard work and determination goes a long way.

The overall Athletics House trophy went to Sutton House again this year. Sutton house has really set the mark over the past few years, the challenge now is for the other houses to try and topple them.

You can see the full results below.

Canterbury Premier Tennis Runners Up

Our tennis team took on St Andrews in the final of the Canterbury Premier Tennis competition earlier this month.

The format was two singles matches and two double matches, played across two hours from 3.15pm-5.15pm. All matches need to be completed within that timeframe to count.

Ray Xu made short work of his singles winning 4-1, 4-1 (short sets), whilst Isaac Boomer and Henry Cooney toiled and narrowly lost in a tie break, this game unfortunately soaked up a lot of time.

In the second doubles, Ray and Henry were beaten by STAC, though there was some great rally's played. Unfortunately, time was called on Isaac Boomer's singles when he was up one set, a win to Isaac would have seen a countback and possible win for us.

Ultimate Frisbee

Day One was a nail-biter against the tournament favourite, Otago Boys' High School. We had a 7-6 win, thanks to Year 11 Alexander Foulds, who scored two crucial goals in the last five minutes. After that, we had solid wins against Shirley Boys' High (7-2) and Christchurch Girls' High (10-3).

Day Two started strong with a 16-0 win against Christchurch Girls' High. This put us into the final against a determined Otago Boys' team looking for redemption.

Despite tricky windy conditions, our boys fought hard and came out on top as South Island Champions, 4-3! They were undefeated throughout the tournament - this has never been done before.

Congratulations to: Will Foulds, Lachie Foulds, Alex Foulds, Ferdi Tan, Oliver Finn, Richie Allen, Oliver Clark, George Walker, Luke Mitchell, and captain, Ridley Bluett.

Rowing

Our rowers have been putting in a massive effort this week at the Maadi Regatta, going up against some of the strongest crews in the country.

Several of our crews found themselves in incredibly tough heats, which meant many had to fight their way through the repechages. Unfortunately, our U18 Eight will not be competing for the Maadi Cup this year and will instead race in the B-Final. However, our younger rowers, along with our U17 crews, have delivered some outstanding performances throughout the regatta.

Upcoming Semi-Finals (Thursday)

  • B U18 Pair

  • B U16 Four

  • B U17 Double

Crews Qualified for A-Finals (Starting Friday)

  • B U17 Coxed Eight

  • B U16 Coxed Four

  • B U18 Novice Coxed Eight

  • B U15 Coxed Eight

  • B U18 Coxed Four

  • B U17 Coxed Four

  • B U16 Coxed Eight

  • B U15 Coxed Four

The boys have represented CBHS with incredible determination, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the week. Their commitment to the sport and their ability to embody the school’s values on and off the water has been exceptional. We are immensely proud of them and look forward to the final races ahead.

Mountain Biking

There have been some outstanding results from our XC boys.

In the Junior section, Ben Davies took the gold in the U15 boys' race. Josh Davies also took gold as he led the field like Ben from start to finish and taking the gold and Andre Free the silver for U20 boys.

In the relay event, the U16 boys took silver with the team of Ben Davies, Soren Low and George Kavanagh riding superbly. The U20 relay, saw Josh Davies, Andre Free and Oli McNaughton closing out a tight race for gold.

Congratulations to all riders thus far you are showing resilience and commitment to our Blue Black values.
