Digital Technologies Computing Set to Grow in 2018

Richard Webster —

As mentioned in the last edition of the Blue and Black News, 43 Year 12 students chose Digital Technologies Computing (DTC) this year which was delivered by Ara Institute of Technology staff. The two classes were taught by Josh Hough, an Ara tutor both on and off-site. This has been a highly successful initiative with students achieving fantastic results and student feedback being extremely positive.

In 2017 CBHS will have two Year 12 DTC classes, two Year 13 DTC classes and will introduce a Year 12 Digital Technology Electronics class. The Year 13 DTC class will be taught by Ara Institute of Technology and the University of Canterbury giving students a fantastic opportunity to get a feel for the type of tertiary institution that may best suit them post school. This Level 3 course will be taught by leading educationalists in their field as well as enable students to visit local businesses and hear from local industry leaders.

On behalf of the staff and students at CBHS I would like to thank the tutor Josh Hough for his outstanding efforts in assisting these students achieve the fantastic final results that they achieved. I would also like to thank Emma West and Ann-Marie Hampton from Ara Institute of Canterbury for all the hard work they have done to ensure that this pilot class was the success that it clearly has been.
