Senior Health and Wellbeing at STC.
Initiatives to imbed positive wellbeing for all our learners in the 21st century.
This year has been a messy time for all, however here at St Thomas’ we have still been able to complete many of the events and activities in our senior Health and Wellbeing classes (Hauoratanga).
We were lucky enough to have speakers from ‘I am Hope’ come in earlier in the year to discuss ways of helping our young men through the challenges of adolescence.
We were also able to run our “Loves Me Not” programme which is facilitated by the NZ Police here at school. This is a powerful day for our year 12 cohort in understanding positive relationships.
We completed the RYDA driving course on safety and decision making. We aim to use many of the external providers in our community in order to further engage our young men in many of the soft skills required for a happy and fulfilling life.
We were disappointed when lockdown hit not to be able to connect with Villa Maria College for our annual speed conversations. This enables students to work on questioning and communication skills. We hope 2022 will allow us this great connection with Villa. Next year we will continue to strengthen this programme and will continue to look for new initiatives to imbed positive wellbeing for all our learners in the 21st century.
