HumanKINDness 'Ripple Effect'

Megan Martin —

The week after the anniversary of the Mosque Shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand, the Marian College Student Wellbeing Team ran a HumanKINDness ‘Ripple Effect’ Challenge.

The students were all given a HumanKINDness ‘Ripple Effect’ card and challenged to do a kind act for their families, who in turn, were encouraged to pay the act of kindness forward and leave the kindness card for their chosen recipient (creating a ‘Ripple Effect’). As the week progressed the reality of the Global Pandemic started to take hold and we had to rethink how we can be kind during a COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Our story was recorded by TV 1 reporter Rachel Parkin and is titled “Christchurch Kids Harnessing the Power of Generosity”. This was aired on March 20.
