Update from Palmerston North City Council
Please see the attached information from PNCC regarding upcoming roadworks on side streets around CNS.
Palmerston North City Council is upgrading several key intersections on Featherston Street over the coming weeks as part of the wider safety improvements underway.
This includes the intersection with Aroha Street. The purpose of the work is to make the intersection safer for pedestrians and schoolchildren, which includes building out the kerbs to reduce the total crossing distances and providing dedicated crossing platforms. The pedestrian crossing on Aroha will also be raised, but this will likely take place after the intersection improvements.
Higgins are planning to start work on Aroha Street sometime next week, and the job will take a few weeks. The intersection will be closed for a day or two at the beginning to install drainage and again at the end to reseal the road, but there are other parts of construction in which the intersection can remain operational. Unlike the cycleway construction, this work must take place during daytime.
Please take care when navigating these streets during pick up and drop off times, and we would encourage you to access Aroha via Beresford/Rangitikei during the construction period.
