South Island Secondary School Athletics Championships
Eight athletes travelled up to Timaru for the South Island Secondary School Athletics Champs on 6-7 April to compete against the best high school athletes in the South Island.
Competition is always fierce at this event with many nationally ranked athletes competing. Our small team should be very proud of their performance on what is a huge step up from the Southland Champs.
Special mention to Connor Gilliland who proved worthy of his selection in the NZ U18 Oceania team with two South Island titles in the Senior Boys Long Jump and Triple Jump and two 2nd placings in the High Jump and Hurdles.
Other results were as follow:
Ferguson Hammond - 3rd U14 B High Jump, 7th Hurdles
