Year 9 Camp Columba - 9SA and 9HI

9SA & 9HI —

We felt like the luckiest of campers this week. For our first CSC camp, it couldn’t have gone better. Thursday and Friday had glorious weather and we also had 3 of the best possible parents join us in Debbie who knew Camp Columba inside out, Pablo who brought his chef expertise and spoiled us with his meals, and Grant who brought incredible support to all of us. Our amazing peer support leaders were the backbone of our camp and Cody, Neve, Tiana, Josh, Chelsea, Jianne, and Amelie never slowed down. It was amazing what they could pack into 36 hours and I don’t blame Cody for falling asleep in the bus on the way home!

After fun and lunch at Dolamore Park, the top priority when we got to camp was to cool off asap so there was a lot of fun throwing themselves, and each other, into the pond and down the waterslide for a couple of hours. Slides were a feature of Friday too, with the bold and the brave wrapping themselves up and being given a helping hand down the slide by Grant and Debbie while Lilly the dog raced them to the bottom. Somewhere amongst all of that there was a fashion show, an amazing outdoor mind-bending course, a scavenger hunt and endless games of basketball, cricket, and the enormous bouncy pillow (even in the dark!).

A huge thank you to Becca, our incredibly energetic youth worker, and Eden Warrender, our year 9 dean who was there every day and always on hand for support and information. And finally, to the teenagers of 9Hi and 9Sa; you are just an awesome crowd who know how to have fun, support each other, and pitch in, even when you are exhausted. It was a cracker 36 hours!
