Quad Exchange

Devyn O’Callaghan, Sophie Smith & Brodie McIlwrick —

In week 7, 10 students were selected from each age group, 5 boys and 5 girls for our quad exchange.

After the long bus trip we arrived at Cromwell College mid morning and were welcomed by Cromwell College with a waiata. We then sang e toru ngā mea as a reply and got ready for our first events. After the first day of competing in the sports, we were all led to the gym where each student would find out who they would be billeted with for the night in Cromwell. All students left after school and returned the next morning ready for some more competitive action against the other schools.

The second morning, the undefeated Year 9 CSC team went out to play touch. It was a dewy crisp morning, it was very difficult finding grip on the slippy grass. Our first matchup was against MAC. They were a strong team but with good ball movement, we ended up taking the win. Our second game was against Cromwell Collage Blue we had a good start and after a few good breakaway tries we won this game too. Feeling confident going into the last game against Cromwell College Gold we headed out ready to give it our all, but after a few handling areas and lack of defense, they had scored a few early tries. Miss Warrender gave us a pep talk and we were pumped for the second half, but the opposition's defense was too good and we couldn’t break through. My highlight was when Miss Warrender had misheard what Markus had said and thought he was sledging the other team but really was trying to complement them. We ended up placing second overall in the touch event however first overall for the year 9’s. All students had an amazing time away at Cromwell and thank you to Cromwell College for hosting quad exchange this year.

Results from the recent Quad Exchange held on March 13-14 in Cromwell between CSC, Mount Aspiring College and two Cromwell College teams are as follows:

Year 9 CSC 1st

Year 10 CSC 1st =

Year 11 CSC 2nd

Year 12 CSC 3rd

Year 13 CSC 2nd

Overall CSC 2nd
