Battle of the Pans

CSC Year 12 and 13 Hospitality students recently competed against other secondary schools in the Battle of the Pans Otago/Southland regional competition, which was part of a nationwide cookery competition.

There were two sections in the competition - Static and Live Kitchen.

The Static Entries were made up of decorated cakes and cupcakes, and biscuits.

In the Static section, BRONZE was awarded to, 

  • Hannah Wilson for Cupcakes

  • Alexis Kinraid for Cupcakes

  • Chenchen Gierza for Cupcakes

  • Roberta Leal for traditional Kiwi biscuits

  • Franciele Santos for traditional Kiwi biscuits

And SILVER was awarded to,

  • Alyssa Fandino for Cupcakes

  • Molly Kinraid for Cupcakes


The Live Kitchen entries involved cooking under pressure with chef judges awarding marks for skill and the completion of a dish to an industry standard

In the Live Kitchen section, SILVER was awarded to 

  • Elizabeth Paterson for her Burger

  • James Adarne for Pasta

  • Jess Coley for her Burger and also for Pasta

  • Daniel Sherriff for Pasta

And GOLD was awarded to 

  • Daniel Sherriff for his Burger

This made Daniel and CSC the overall winners of the competition.

Daniel’s prize includes two days work experience under the head chefs at the Langlands Hotel in Invercargill.
